Sprout Salad

Ingredients to make Sprout Salad

  • Whole green gram sprouts - 1/2 cup
  • Sweet corn kernels - 1/4 cup
  • onion - 1 (small)
  • tomato - 1 (small)
  • cucumber - 1/2
  • Roasted ground nuts - 3 tbsp
  • Sunflower seeds - 2 tsp
  • lemon - 1-2
  • coriander - a few sprigs
  • salt - to taste
  • water - 1/4 cup

How to make Sprout Salad

  1. Chop the onions, tomato, cucumber and coriander finely. Then set it aside.
  2. Place the sprouts and sweet corn kernels in a glass bowl, pour in water and microwave it for 2 minutes on a high.
  3. Drain the excess water from the microwaved sprout-sweet corn mix.
  4. In a mixing bowl, add in all the chopped veggies, sprout-sweet corn mix, salt and juice of one or two lemons and toss it well.
  5. Garnish with roasted groundnuts and sunflower seeds.
  6. Serve it immediately else the nuts would lose their crunch.

My Tip:

Make your own sprouts by soaking whole green gram for about 6 hrs in water. Drain and leave it covered in a warm place for about 4-6 hrs. The sprouts will be ready in 4-6 hrs. Add a little chat masala and salt to the water drained after microwaving the sprouts and it will make a nice and healthy drink.
