Whole Fish in Hot Sauce

Ingredients to make Whole Fish in Hot Sauce

  • Whole fish of 500 grams or 1 whole
  • Sesame oil 2 tablespoon
  • Sliced onions 1
  • Chopped ginger 1 teaspoon
  • Chopped garlic 1 teaspoon
  • Sliced capsicum 1 small
  • Shredded chinese cabbage 1/2 cup
  • Sweet corn nibble 2 tablespoon
  • lime slice 2
  • Chinese cooking wine 1/2 cup
  • red chilli 10
  • vinegar 2 tablespoons
  • Hoisin sauce 2 teaspoon
  • Soysauce 1 teaspoon
  • Chopped spring onions for garnish
  • Chopped green chilli 2
  • Chopped tomato for garnish
  • salt to taste
  • pepper powder to taste
  • sugar 1 teaspoon
  • sesame seeds little for sprinkling
  • corn flour starch slurry 2 tablespoons

How to make Whole Fish in Hot Sauce

  1. Marinate the whole fish after cleaning it from inside with salt for 30 minutes.
  2. Soak 7 to 8 of red chilies in water for 15 minutes and make a paste with vinegar.
  3. Heat the sesame oil add fry the whole fish to golden crispy texture.
  4. In the remaining oil add chopped garlic and chopped ginger and fry.
  5. Add the sliced onions and capsicum and mix well.
  6. Add the sugar, red chilli paste, hoisin sauce, soysauce, salt to taste.
  7. Mix everything well and add 2 cups of water and boil.
  8. Add the pepper powder.
  9. Add the fish.
  10. Add the chinese wine and cook.
  11. Add the corn starch slurry.
  12. Add chopped green chilly.
  13. Add the shredded Chinese cabbage and lime slices.
  14. When the sauce thickens transfer to a serving plate.
  15. Now garnish with chopped spring onions, chopped tomato, chopped red chilli, sweet corn nibble.
  16. Sprinkle the sesame seeds on top.

My Tip:

Use any boneless fish.You can also marinate the fish with ginger and garlic paste along with salt to remove any odd smell.
