Chakara Pongal Prasadam

Ingredients to make Chakara Pongal Prasadam

  • rice - 1 cup
  • Split moong dal - a handful
  • sugar - 1 cup
  • Milk - 4 cups
  • ghee - 1/2 cup
  • cardamom powder - 1 tsp
  • almonds and whole cashews (a handful)

How to make Chakara Pongal Prasadam

  1. Dry roast moong dal dark brown. Add it to the measured rice
  2. Wash the rice and dal together
  3. Now put It in a cooker
  4. Add the milk to it
  5. Cover and cook for 5 whistles
  6. Keep it for few mins reducing the gas.
  7. Now put off the gas and keep aside
  8. Take a pan and add the ghee and cashews
  9. Stir till nicely roasted
  10. Keep aside
  11. Open the lid of the cooker and mash the cooked rice and dal with the backside of a ladle
  12. Add the cardamom powder and sugar
  13. Now add the roasted nuts along with the ghee
  14. Mix well.
  15. Ready to serve
