Ingredients to make Aloo ka Bharta Recipe

  • Boiled Potatoes - 5 to 6 (medium sized)
  • Cumin seeds/Jeera - 2.5 tsp
  • Chopped Green chillies - 1
  • Turmeric powder/haldi - 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Chopped coriander leaves - 1/4 cup
  • Lemon juice - 2 tbsp
  • Oil - 3 tbsp

How to make Aloo ka Bharta Recipe

  1. Peel the boiled potatoes and cut into cubes. (You can mash the potatoes here also, but I mashed the potatoes after putting masalas into the kadai only).
  2. Heat oil in a pan/kadai/wok, add the cumin sees and let them sizzle in the oil.
  3. Add in the green chilies, fry for a minute. Add the chopped potatoes and mix well with the cumin seeds and chilies.
  4. Add the spices like turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala and salt.
  5. Saute the potatoes for 1 minutes and then mash it with the spoon or fork. (don't fully mash it)
  6. Add in the lemon juice and chopped coriander leaves. Mix the whole mixture and cook for 2-3 minutes, so all the masalas and fresh herbs are cooked with the potatoes.
  7. Serve hot with chapati, puri or curd or as a side dish.
