Pomfret Fry

Ingredients to make Pomfret Fry

  • One white Pomfret fish
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • coriander seeds 1tsp
  • Suji 1/2 cup
  • Rice flour 1/2 cup
  • 6 cloves
  • 4 peppercorns
  • 1 Dry red chilli
  • vinegar 2 tsp
  • 2 pods of cardamom
  • oil to fry

How to make Pomfret Fry

  1. Take one pomfret fish. Wash nicely and pat dry.
  2. Apply turmeric powder and salt and keep aside.
  3. Meanwhile prepare the marinade by grinding coriander seeds, peppercorns, cloves, cardamom seeds, dry red chilli and vinegar. Make a paste. Marinade fish in this marination for minimum of half an hour to an hour.
  4. Now in a bowl take suji and rice flour. Add a bit of salt. Cover the fish in this dry mixture nicely from both sides. Heat oil in a wok. Fry this fish in the wok for 3 minutes on each side.
  5. Serve it hot with tartar sauce as a dip or with lemon juice on top.

My Tip:

If rice flour and suji or either one of these is not available then it can be substituted with besan. This fish tastes good with tartar sauce and when lemon is squeezed on top of it.
