Ingredients to make Dahi Vade

  • For vada -
  • Soaked Udad daal 250 gram
  • jeera 1 tbsp
  • ginger 1 inch
  • salt according to taste
  • 1 pinch hing
  • For imli chutni
  • imli 50 gms
  • Roasted jeera powder 2 tbsp
  • red chilli Powder 1 tsp
  • sugar 2 - 3 tbsp
  • salt 1 tbsp
  • Black salt 1 tbsp
  • mint powder 1 tsp
  • dahi 1/2 kg
  • oil for frying
  • For garnishing -
  • Sev 3 - 4 teaspoons
  • Green coriander leaves

How to make Dahi Vade

  1. To prepare vada, Firstly soak udad daal for 5 hours, after that drain water and put in a mixer and make a thick batter
  2. In that batter add salt, jeera and crushed ginger and pinch of Hing ( asafoetida)and mix well
  3. Take a deep pan put oil for frying vada, now with help of two spoon make small vada and put them in medium heat till it becomes golden in color
  4. After that take out vada from oil put them in water, leave it for few minutes
  5. Meanwhile, take dahi in large bowl and blend it smoothly with the help of hand blender or spoon
  6. Take out vada from water and put them in dahi
  7. Now we will make imli chutni
  8. Soak imli in water for 1 hour
  9. Now mash imli in water and take out its pulp,
  10. In imli pulp add sugar, salt, black salt, roasted jeera powder, red chilli powder and Mint powder
  11. For serving
  12. Take one plate, put soaked vada along with dahi now add 3- 4 spoons imli chutni, garnish with red chilli powder, salt and roasted jeera powder and put some sev on top.
  13. Serve

My Tip:

Batter of vada should be of dropping consistency, it should not be h thick.
