Steamed River Fish with Jackfruit Seed

Ingredients to make Steamed River Fish with Jackfruit Seed

  • 250 g small river fish
  • 10-15 jackfruit seeds
  • 1 tea spoon ginger juice
  • 1/2 tea spoon garlic paste
  • 1 tea spoon green chili paste
  • salt to taste
  • 1/4 tea spoon turmeric for colour
  • 1 tea spoon bamboo shoot(optional)
  • 1 tea spoon mustard oil
  • banana leaf-to wrap
  • coriander and green chilies to garnish

How to make Steamed River Fish with Jackfruit Seed

  1. Clean the fishes.
  2. Clean the peel of the jackfruit seeds. And boil it.
  3. Marinate both with ginger juice, garlic and chili paste.
  4. Add salte to taste and a bit turmeric for colour.
  5. Leave for two hour.
  6. Place it on a banana leaf.
  7. Add some bamboo shoot if you like the aroma, though it is optional.
  8. Pour a little mustard oil from above. hardly one tea spoon.
  9. Wrap it with a thread.
  10. Place the wrap in a momo steamer.
  11. Steam for 15minutes.
  12. Garnish with corriander leaves and green chilies.
  13. Serve hot. Best goes with steamed rice.

My Tip:

If u'r in hurry, don't preboil the jackfruit, which will take half an hour. marinate everything and place it on the pressure steamer stand and go for two whistles; but authentic taste you'll get only when you cook according to the traditional recipe.
