Ingredients to make Butter masala rice

  • Basmati long grain rice- 4 cups ( washed and soaked in 6 cups of water)
  • Vegetables of your choice
  • butter
  • Garam masala powder
  • Channa masala powder
  • Tomato puree ( in a non stick pan add butter and then fry onions, tomatoes, ginger, garlic cloves, salt, chilli powder and blend it into a smooth paste after it cools)
  • Ginger, garlic, masala spices

How to make Butter masala rice

  1. Heat butter and oil in a non stick pan and add cashews, Cinnamon and cloves and cardamom for very good aroma.
  2. Now add onions and fry for 5 minutes. Next add ginger garlic paste and saute foe 5 min.
  3. Next add onions, potato cubes, peas, diced carrots and stir fry .
  4. When the veggies are cooked half way, add our tomato puree and cook for 10 min.
  5. Now add garam masala powder -1 tsp and channa masala powder 2 tsps, chilli powder and turmeric. Stir fry till veggies are almost soft and then transfer this to a rice cooker vessel and check for salt after adding water.
  6. Add the pre soaked rice to this and mix well.
  7. Turn on cooker to cooking mode and let it cook. When the mode changes to keep warm, add lemon juice and mix rice well.
  8. Our tasty butter masala rice is ready on the dining table . Let us enjoy with onion and cucumber slices.

My Tip:

For 1 cup basmati rice, let us try with 1 1/2 cups water for non sticky texture and it almost looks like dum style biryani
