Ingredients to make Muri ghonto

  • 2 whole fish head of rohu/Katla fish cut into 2 pieces each.
  • 2 potatoes, cut into 4 pieces each.
  • 1/2 onion
  • 2
  • 3 garlic pods
  • 1/4tsp turmeric powder
  • 1.5tsp Kashmiri chilli powder
  • 1/2tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2tsp pepper corns
  • 1/4tsp saunf
  • 1/3tsp salt
  • 1/4tsp nigella seeds
  • 1/2tsp garma masala powder
  • 1/3 cup beaten rice
  • 1/2 cup mustard oil
  • 2 Cups water

How to make Muri ghonto

  1. Marinate the fish heads with 1tsp salt and 1/2tsp turmeric. Keep aside for 10-15mins.
  2. Heat a kadai, add oil and fry the fish head pieces and keep aside.
  3. In the same kadai, add 1/4tsp nigella seeds.
  4. Add potatoes pieces and fry and cook for 4-5mins or until half cooked.
  5. Add the beaten rice and fry for 2mins.
  6. Meanwhile grind the ingredients mentioned from onion to salt with 2-3tbs water to a smooth paste.
  7. Add the ground paste and fry until raw masala smell goes.
  8. Add water and bring to a rolling boil.
  9. Add the fish head pieces and cook in low flame for 5-7mins.
  10. End with sprinkling garam masala powder.
