Ingredients to make Cracked wheat upma/bansi wheat upma

  • Cracked wheat - 1 cup
  • onion-1 finely chopped
  • capsicum -1 finely chopped
  • 1 carrot - 1 finely chopped
  • Green peas - 1 cup
  • Green chilli - 2
  • few curry leaves
  • mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • chana dal- 1 tsp
  • salt as required
  • asafoetida a pinch

How to make Cracked wheat upma/bansi wheat upma

  1. Heat oil in a Kadai,When it’s hot enough, add mustard seeds and green chill Add chopped onions. Add a pinch of Asafoetida, salt. Saute till it’s translucent.
  2. Add all other chopped vegetables and green peas. Let them cook well on high flame. When the vegetables are almost done.
  3. Meanwhile, heat 2 cups of water. Fry the cracked wheat for abt 6-7 minutes, lower the flame and then pour the hot water into it, slowly.
  4. Close it with a lid for a few 5- 7 minutes and add coriander leaves.

My Tip:

A very healthy and tasty breakfast or dinner and diabetic friendly.Adding grated coconut in the end also tastes makes it more delicious.
