Dark Chocolate cake with Candied Kumquats

Ingredients to make Dark Chocolate cake with Candied Kumquats

  • 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1tsp Baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 cup Canola oil
  • 1 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 Cup Hot Coffee
  • 20 -25 Kumquats (thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 Cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 100 gms Chocolate chip
  • 1/2 cup cream

How to make Dark Chocolate cake with Candied Kumquats

  1. 1: Preheat oven at 180 degree Celsius. .
  2. 2: Grease an 8" round spring form pan.
  3. 3: Sift both flours, baking powder , salt and baking powder in a bowl.
  4. 4: Boil water and make strong coffee.
  5. 5: Add cocoa powder and stir.
  6. 6: Add oil and sugar in a bowl and mix properly.
  7. 7: Add egg one by one along with flour mixture and vanilla essence in oil mixture with an electric mixer at low speed.
  8. 8: Add curd and buttermilk and mix again.
  9. 9: Pour in the spring bottom pan and bake it 30-40 minutes at 180 degree Celsius.
  10. 10: Place sugar and water in a saucepan and stir to combine. .
  11. 11: Add kumquats and cook till they are translucent.
  12. 12: Strain and cool
  13. 13: Let the cake remain in the oven after its baked so that it cools down.
  14. 14: Meanwhile pour warm cream over chocochips and give it and nice stir.
  15. 15: Let it cool down and pour over the cake.
  16. 16: Decorate with candied kumquats
