Pav Chiwda Masala

Ingredients to make Pav Chiwda Masala

  • One packet Laadi pav (the one used for pav bhaaji)
  • 2 medium sized onions
  • 1 large tomato
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 2 dry red chillies
  • 6-8 curry leaves
  • 1 tspn mustard seeds
  • 1 tspn cumin seeds
  • A pinch of asofoetida
  • 1 tspn turmeric powder
  • 1 & 1/2 tspn red chilli powder
  • 1 tspn garam masala powder
  • 2 tbsp chopped corriander
  • salt as per taste
  • Grated cheese 1-2 cubes
  • 1 tspn jaggery
  • 1/2 lemon to squeeze (optional)
  • 3 tbsp oil

How to make Pav Chiwda Masala

  1. Chop the onions and tomato in medium size
  2. Cut the pav into cubes approximately 1 inch size
  3. In a kadhai,heat oil.Keep the flame on medium.Once hot add mustard seeds and as they splutter add cumin and curry leaves
  4. Then add dry red chillies,ginger-garlic paste and chopped onions and mix well
  5. Once the onion turns a bit soft add turmeric,red chilli powder,garam masala powder and mix well
  6. Then add chopped tomato and now cook till the tomato turns soft
  7. Then add jaggery and once it melts add the cut bread cubes and mix well till all the cubes are coated with the masala.Add salt as per taste and mix well The flame can be a bit high while mixing the bread cubes .
  8. Now off the gas and garnish with chopped coriander and grated cheese and serve got.

My Tip:

Enjoy this chatpati dish as an evening snack with a hot cup of tea You can squeeze a half lemon if needed.
