Sweet Potato Gulab Jamun

Ingredients to make Sweet Potato Gulab Jamun

  • Sweet potato 1 medium
  • All purpose flour 1 to 1 1/2 tsp
  • Baking soda 1/8 tsp
  • Salt a pinch
  • For sugar syrup-
  • Sugar 100 gms
  • Water 125 ml
  • Green cardamom 2 to 3
  • Saffron strands few
  • Oil for Deep frying
  • Ghee a tsp for greasing palms

How to make Sweet Potato Gulab Jamun

  1. Boil / steam sweet potatoes in pressure cooker for three whistles , add 1 cup water in pressure cooker , put the steamer ring and keep the sweet potato , they should be dry.
  2. Let them cool down
  3. Make sugar syrup , boil water and sugar for 7 to 8 mins
  4. Add green cardamom and saffron strands
  5. To make gulab jamuns , mash sweet potatoes
  6. Mix flour , baking powder and salt
  7. Grease your palms and make equal size balls
  8. Heat oil and fry the balls , stir all the time for even frying
  9. Now keep them aside in a paper towel for 2-3 mins
  10. Don' t put in the hot syrup immediately. Put after 2 to 3 minutes
  11. Soak jamuns in sugar syrup for 1-3 hrs for best results
  12. Garnish with dry fruits
