About Chalimidi

Chalimidi is a traditional and the most important sweet made for every important occassions like marriage, baby shower and festivals.It is believed that this sweet blesses us with good health. Traditional chalimidi is white in colour, but i tried to make betal leaf and so added elachi and pista essence which is in green colour.

Ingredients to make Chalimidi

  • Jaggery- 1 cup
  • water-1 cup
  • Rice flour- 1 Cup
  • Elachi and pista essence- 5 drops
  • Anjoor paste- little

How to make Chalimidi

  1. In a pan, boil jaggery and water and make a thick syrup and filter it and add elachi essence.
  2. Now switch off the stove and add rice flour to make a thick dough.
  3. Let it cool for 30 min and then place a portion of dough in between ghee applied plastic sheets and press it .
  4. Shape it into betal shape and mark impressions of leaf with the help of ghee applied knife.
  5. In the middle of leaf, place a small ball of anjoor ball.
My Tip: Home made rice flour works better if we dont have time for soaking, drying and powdering.
