Dum biryani

Ingredients to make Dum biryani

  • Basmati rice 1 cup soaked for half an hour
  • Chopped French beans 1 tbsp
  • Cauliflower florets 1 tbsp
  • Green peas 1 tbsp
  • Carrot 1 tbsp
  • Potato 1 chopped
  • Tomato 2 chopped
  • Onions 4-5 sliced
  • Tej patta 1
  • Green cardamom 1-2
  • Big cardamom 1
  • Cloves 4-5
  • Whole black pepper 5-6
  • Javantri 1
  • Jeera 1 tsp
  • Curd 250 gms
  • Dalchini 1 stick
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
  • Salt as per taste
  • Red chili powder 2 tsp
  • Dhania powder 2 tbsp
  • Haldi powder 1/2 tsp
  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • Biryani masala 1 tbsp
  • Ghee 2 tsp

How to make Dum biryani

  1. Cook rice and cool it for 10 minutes
  2. While cooking rice add 1 piece each dalchini, cloves, black pepper
  3. In one pan add half tsp of oil
  4. Add sliced onions and roast them
  5. Onions should be burnt
  6. In other pan add oil and ghee
  7. Add tej patta
  8. Cloves, javantri, elaichi and ginger garlic paste
  9. Add little onions here too
  10. Add tomato
  11. Let it get cooked properly
  12. Now add veggies
  13. Add whisked curd
  14. Cook them on slow flame
  15. Now add red chilli powder
  16. Add dhania powder, haldi powder, biryani masala
  17. If you feel water is less, add more water
  18. As veggies are cooked press it evenly
  19. Spread cooked rice over veges
  20. now spread burnt onions over it
  21. Keep a tawa on slow flame
  22. Keep biryani pan on tawa
  23. Cook for at least 10 -15 minutes
  24. Serve hot with raita or curd
My Tip: Masala can be added more or less according to your taste
