Ingredients to make Dahi Bhalle

  • Rice 1 cup
  • Udad dal 1/2 cup
  • 1 tbsp moong dal
  • Ginger paste
  • Salt
  • Curd 3 cups
  • Chilli powder a pinch
  • Black pepper powder a pinch
  • Oil to deep fry
  • Backing soda a pinch
  • Buttermilk 1 cup

How to make Dahi Bhalle

  1. Soak rice and dals in water for overnight.
  2. Drain water and grind to a thick paste using buttermilk.Allow it to rest a while.
  3. Add salt, backing soda, garlic paste and mix well.
  4. Take a spoon of batter and fry it in hot oil till it turns golden brown.
  5. Soak hot vada in water for a min. Then squeeze the excess water and take it out.
  6. Keep in the fridge for 15min.
  7. Meanwhile, take the Dahi / curd add some sugar and salt..Beat it well.
  8. Keep it in fridge for 15 mins.
  9. While serving place the vada in the serving bowl, pour chilled curd over it .Sprinkle red chilly & pepper powder over it and serve.
My Tip: After frying the vada put it into water & strain water properly.
