Dry Shrimps with Jack Fruit Seeds Curry

Ingredients to make Dry Shrimps with Jack Fruit Seeds Curry

  • Dry baby shrimps/ Sukkat Jawala 1 cup
  • Jackfruit seeds 8-10
  • Onion 1 medium
  • Tomato 1 medium
  • Ginger garlic paste 2 teaspoons
  • Slit green chilli 2
  • Oil 2 teaspoon
  • Curry leaves, cumin, mustard, asafoetida for tempering
  • Kokum 2/ tamarind pulp 1 teaspoon
  • Red chilly powder 1/2 Teaspoon
  • Malvan masala 1/2 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garam masala 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander for garnishing

How to make Dry Shrimps with Jack Fruit Seeds Curry

  1. Boil jackfruit seeds with salt and water till soft. Peel the outer white cover and cut pieces or crush
  2. Clean, wash and soak dry shrimps in hot water.
  3. Cut onion and tomatoes finely
  4. Heat oil in pan, add oil and put tempering of asafoetida, mustard, cumin, curry leaves and green chilies
  5. Add onion and saute till soft
  6. Add tomatoes and cook well
  7. Add all ground spices
  8. Drain water from shrimps
  9. Add shrimps, kokum and jackfruit seeds to pan
  10. Mix well and cook for a while
  11. Add a little water and cook covered till the spices mix and coat the shrimps
  12. Add coriander leaves and cook till you get a semi dry gravy
  13. You can make it dry also but I prefer adding 1/2 cup water to have it with rice, Bhakari or chapati or rice
My Tip: Always wash and soak shrimps in hot water before use.
