Ingredients to make Aam Dal Fritters in Rich Mango Gravy

  • Raw mango-1
  • Moong dal 1/2 cup
  • Mattar dal/dried peas-1/2 cup
  • Kashmiri red chili powder-1tsp
  • Haldi-2tsp
  • Mustard oil
  • salt as per taste
  • Sugar-3tbsp
  • Mustard seeds-1tsp

How to make Aam Dal Fritters in Rich Mango Gravy

  1. Soak both the dal and peas for 5-6 hrs.
  2. Then add salt, sugar, Kashmiri red chili powder and a pinch of turmeric.(adjust as per taste)
  3. Then blend in the food processor to make a fine paste.It should be a thick batter.
  4. Heat oil in a pan.Once it's really hot, add the batter in small amounts.Fry till golden brown.Keep aside.
  5. In the same oil, add mustard seeds.Let it splutter.
  6. To it add small chunks of mango.Add salt.Lower the flame.
  7. Cook for around 2min.
  8. To this add the turmeric and red chili powder mix, adding a little water.Cook for about 5 min in low flame.
  9. Then add 2 cups of water.Let the mangoes cook well in medium flame.
  10. Once the gravy starts thickening, add the dal fritters.
  11. It will float and become soft.Maintain the crispiness.
  12. Add 3 tbsp sugar and stir well.
  13. Cool it a bit and serve with hot rice.
My Tip: Do not add the fritters before.It will become soggy. The mangoes should not melt completely.
