ABOUT Patrani Machchi RECIPE

Mouthwatering steamed fish dish which is marinated in flavourful green chutney.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 2 Palm-sized fillets of fish like pomfret, basa, dory
  2. A bunch of coriander
  3. 10-12 Mint leaves
  4. 2 Green chilies (or as per taste)
  5. Juice of half a lemon
  6. 2 Garlic cloves
  7. Half inch piece of ginger
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Sugar to taste
  10. Half a cup of grated coconut
  11. Aluminium foil or banana leaves for steaming

Instructions

  1. Clean the fish and dab it dry with paper towels.
  2. Grind all the ingredients, except fish, to make a green chutney. Adjust water to get a smooth chutney.
  3. Set a steamer or pressure cooker and put water to boil. If using a pressure cooker, do not use the whistle.
  4. Coat the fish on both sides with the green chutney. Wrap well in the banana leaf or aluminium foil. Place in the steamer and steam for 7-8 minutes. Serve hot once done.
