Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Bread - 4 Slices
  2. Oil for frying
  3. For Batter : All purpose flour - 3/4 Cup
  4. Besan - 3/4 Cup
  5. Tomato sauce - 4 tsp
  6. Salt - 1/2 tsp
  7. Water - 1/2 cup or little more
  8. Black pepper powder - 1/3 tsp
  9. Ginger garlic paste - 2 tsp
  10. Tempering : Whole jeera - 1/2 tsp
  11. Curry leaves - 8
  12. Chilli sauce - 3 tsp
  13. Green chilli - 1 chopped or sliced
  14. Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
  15. Water - 2-3 tsp
  16. Fresh coriander leaves
  17. Cashew nuts or Pistachios roasted - 10
  18. Lime slices

Instructions

  1. Combine maida and besan in a big bowl.Add and mix ginger garlic paste, salt, black pepper powder, and tomato sauce. Make a lump free paste. The batter should not be too thick or runny.
  2. Cut the sides of the bread, cut each bread slice into 9 squares.
  3. Dip the bread into the batter and deep fry or shallow fry them in batches until red and crispy, I have shallow fried them.
  4. Heat a tsp of oil in a pan, add whole cumin seeds, green chilli, ginger garlic paste, curry leaves, chilli sauce and water. Mix well and add bread pieces. Stir and cook till the water evaporates.
  5. Turn off the gas, garnish bread 65 with coriander leaves, roasted nuts and lime pieces. Serve hot with chai.
