Ingredients to make Sesame bread

  • 660 grams all purpose flour
  • 60 grams yellow cornmeal (makki ka atta)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 and 1/4 teaspoon of dry yeast
  • 4 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 500 ml warm water

How to make Sesame bread

  1. Take a large bowl, pour in the warm water along with the sugar, salt, and yeast. Stir this slightly and keep aside for 5 minutes.
  2. Next, add about 1 cup of flour at a time into the yeast mixture. Stir these ingredients together to form a soft dough.
  3. Put the dough on a floured surface and knead until it is elastic and smooth to the touch. Place this dough into a large bowl. Cover and keep for 1 and 1/2 hour so that it rises and doubles in size.
  4. After this time period, divide the dough into 2 portions. Make 12-inch long loaf shapes of each dough, then place the loaves on a baking sheet that has already been sprinkled with the cornmeal.
  5. Sprinkle the sesame seeds uniformly on top of these loaves. Place a pan of boiling water on the bottom rack of the oven. Then place the loaves on the middle rack of the oven.
  6. Set the temperature to 204 degree celsius, do not preheat the oven. Bake for 35 minutes or till the loaves sound hollow when tapped.
  7. Once cooked, let it cool on a wire rack.
  8. Serve warm with a spread of mayonnaise for best taste.
