Ingredients to make Fried fhara (pitha)

  • Rice flour-1cup
  • Salt as taste
  • Warm water-1cup
  • Chana dal soaked overnight and ground to a paste - 1 cup
  • Mango powder- 1 tsp
  • Red chilly powder - 1 tsp
  • Cumin powder - 1 tsp
  • Black salt- 1/2 tsp
  • Asafoetida-1pinch
  • Ginger & green chilly paste-1 tsp
  • Oil- 1 tbsp
  • ajwain [carom seeds] - 1 tsp
  • Chat masala-1 tsp

How to make Fried fhara (pitha)

  1. Take a bowl add chana daal , add Ginger & chilli paste red chilli, jeera powder,salt & mango powder. mix nicely
  2. Now take a another pan add rice flour ,salt , add little water to make hard dough
  3. Now make small balls with dough
  4. Roll it with rolling pin, roll out a thick roti.
  5. Put one spoon stuffing in the middle, Seal the edges qith some water to form shapes like gujiya.
  6. Now boil water in deep saucepan, add 1 tsp of oil, let the water come to a boil.
  7. Add all gujiyas into the boiling water, let them cook. Once the gujiyas are cooked, they would float up to the surface.
  8. Strain the gujiyas, let them cook. Once they are cold enough, slices them into pieces.
  9. Then take a pan add oil in heat add chopped green chilli, turmeric powder, carom seeds.
  10. Once the mixture sizzles, add the Fhara pieces that were slicesd earlier. Saute them well and add chaat masala powder. Mix well and cook for 5-6 minutes and then serve with some green chutner. Sprinkle chopped coriander leaves on top if required.
