Prawn Thokku

Ingredients to make Prawn Thokku

  • 1 kg small variety prawns
  • 2 medium onions finely chopped
  • 2 medium tomatoes finely chopped
  • 20 cloves of garlic
  • 1/4tsp turmeric powder
  • 1.5 tsp chilli powder
  • 1.5 tsp coriander powder
  • 3 tsp Fennel powder
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste

How to make Prawn Thokku

  1. Heat oil in a deep skillet and fry onion till light brown.
  2. Next, add crushed garlic and saute till the raw smell goes off.
  3. Now add in tomatoes and saute again.
  4. Once the mixture leaves oil adds all the spice powders and saute again for 1 min.
  5. Add 1/4 cup water and prawns and simmer cook till the prawns are done and then add fennel powder towards the end.
  6. Serve hot with steam rice or rice roti.
