Ingredients to make Bottle Gourd Ice Cream with Oats

  • 1 cup oats
  • 1 1/2 litre full cream milk
  • 300 gm bottle gourd
  • 300 gm milkmaid
  • 200 gm Whipping cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • Green food colour
  • Chocolate sauce/ syrup
  • Choco chips for garnishing

How to make Bottle Gourd Ice Cream with Oats

  1. Boil the milk in a pan.
  2. Grate the bottle gourd and squeeze out excess water.
  3. Add the bottle gourd to the boiling milk.
  4. Cook it till the milk reduces and bottle gourd is cooked and softened, nearly 10 -15 mins.
  5. Add oats to it and cook for another 5 mins.
  6. When the mixture gets thick and oats are cooked, add green food colour and milkmaid.mix well and switch off the gas.
  7. In a separate bowl, whip up the whipping cream till soft peaks.
  8. Let the bottle gourd and oats mix cool down, then blend it well in a blender.add vanilla essence to it.
  9. Take out the mix in a bowl and fold in the whipping cream to it.
  10. Put it in a container, cover it with cling wrap and let it freeze.
  11. After 2-3 hrs when the ice cream is half set, take it out and churn it again.
  12. Let the ice cream to freeze again for another 5-6 hrs or until done.
  13. Scoop out the ice cream in individual servings, garnish with chocolate sauce/ syrup and choc chips and serve.

My Tip:

You can add more milkmaid as per your desired sweetness.
