Ingredients to make Mango, Carrot Smoothie With a Citrus Boost

  • Ripe Mango - 1 Medium
  • Carrot - 1 medium
  • Malta / Orange or any other citrus fruit - 1
  • Lime - 1/2
  • Soaked rolled Oats / Soaked Beaten Rice (Poha) - 2 Tablespoon
  • Lemon Juice - 2 Teaspoon
  • Freshly grated ginger root - 1 tablespoon
  • Few fresh sprigs of Mint leaves for garnish

How to make Mango, Carrot Smoothie With a Citrus Boost

  1. Wash, peel and cut the mango into cubes.
  2. Wash, peel and grate the carrot. I used the English carrot in this one but I usually make it with the winter’s local red one. It has a sweeter taste.
  3. Peel and cut the Malta and lime into pieces. Make sure all the fruit pieces are of equal size for a smooth blend. Put all the fruits in the blender jar. Keep the mesocarp.
  4. Put fresh ginger, extract, lemon juice, three pinches of salt and crushed mint in a glass and add enough water to make 4-6 ice cubes. Mix it well. The mixture should taste like a ginger lemonade.
  5. Freeze this in an ice-cube tray an hour before you make the smoothie. It gives an exotic note to the drink.
  6. In a blender jar add all the ingredients. We will not use any sugar for this one,
  7. Add a few of these frozen cubes to the other ingredients and blend until smooth.
  8. Pour it into a chilled glass over the remaining frozen cubes. Sprinkle some roasted oats and garnish this delicious smoothie with a lime wedge and mint sprig.
My Tip: You can cut and freeze the fruits in various zip lock bags and quickly assemble everything to make a healthy smoothie even during morning rush hours.
