Chicken Curry

Ingredients to make Chicken Curry

  • 250-300gms chicken
  • For the marinade-
  • half a lemon
  • salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp dhania powder
  • 1/3 tsp haldi
  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  • For gravy
  • one big onion
  • 8-10 pods of lehsun
  • an inch of adrak
  • 3 tbsp of oil
  • one big tomato puree
  • green chillies as per taste
  • 100 gms petha or pumpkin peeled and boiled
  • salt to taste
  • 1.5-2 tsp Chicken masala
  • red chilli powder as per taste
  • 1/2 tsp haldi

How to make Chicken Curry

  1. Marinate chicken with salt, chilli powder, dhania powder, haldi and lemon and keep aside for 20 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile grind onion, lehsun, adrak and green chillies into fine or coarse paste as you wish.
  3. Add oil in cooker and let it get hot. When oil is hot add the paste and saute till the raw smell goes off.
  4. Add tomato puree to it and haldi and chicken masala and red chilli masala and saute till oil separates.
  5. Puree the boiled pumpkin and add to masala when oil separates and saute for 2-3 minutes. Then add marinated chicken to it and fry for 2 minutes.
  6. Add water as you want your gravy. I prefer medium thick gravy. Then add salt as per taste and close the lid.
  7. Now put flame to full for eight whistles and then switch off the gas.
