Zafrani Kheer

Ingredients to make Zafrani Kheer

  • gobindobhog or basmati rice 100 grams
  • milk 500 grams
  • sugar 150 grams or add more if you want more sweet
  • cardamom powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • coconut 1/2 cup
  • saffron 1/8 teaspoon
  • cashew nuts 2 tablespoon
  • pistachios 1 tablespoon
  • raisins 1 tablespoon

How to make Zafrani Kheer

  1. Wash and soak rice in 1 cup of water.
  2. Chop nuts.
  3. Boil milk in a heavy bottom saucepan.
  4. When milk starts boiling add soaked rice.
  5. Stir occasionally with a metal spoon.
  6. Soak saffron in a teaspoon of water.
  7. Add grated coconut.
  8. Mix and stir, add raisins.
  9. When rice becomes soft add sugar, mix well.
  10. Add chopped dry fruits.
  11. When kheer gets thickened add saffron.
  12. Add cardamom powder, switch off the gas.
  13. Garnish with more dry fruits.
  14. Serve chilled or when cooled down.
My Tip: You can add basmati rice also.
