Ingredients to make Ful Medames with Garlic and Cream...

  • Canned Ful Medames 400 grams (Fava Beans)
  • Garlic Cloves 3
  • Cumin powder 1/2 a teaspoon
  • Tomato paste 2 tablespoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Red chilli powder 1/2 or 1 teaspoon
  • Parsley or coriander chopped finely a fistful
  • Olive oil 3-4 tablespoon
  • Cooking cream / fresh cream 3 tablespoon

How to make Ful Medames with Garlic and Cream...

  1. In a cooking pot, empty the can of ful medames along with it's juices.
  2. To this add the olive oil, garlic mince, cumin powder, red chilli powder and salt.
  3. Simmer this on low flame.
  4. Keep it covered.
  5. After 10 -12 minutes of simmering, smash the beans with a fork and break them if there are any whole beans left.
  6. This is actually what makes it more yummy.
  7. The beans are not whole and the stew becomes so very thick and mushy.
  8. Add in the cooking cream now. Mix well and simmer for another 5 minutes.
  9. Finally garnish with parsley or coriander.
  10. Drizzle more of olive oil while serving.
  11. Serve hot with baladi (pita) bread.

My Tip:

Raw fava beans can also be used if desired. They should be pressure cooked in that case.
