If you are a Goan, and love shellfish, then you will definitely like this seafood recipe.Tisreo or tisryo means clams. Tisryanche Suke is one of my favorites since childhood and now even my son’s favorite. The recipe is very simple and it just tastes amazing. This clams dish goes well with fish curry rice .

Tisrayanche Suke / Goan Clams Dry

Ingredients to make Tisrayanche Suke / Goan Clams Dry

  • Clams- 500 grams
  • Freshly grated or dry coconut- 1/2 Cup
  • Big onion- 1 (chopped fine)
  • Green or red chillies(not dry) 1 -2 slit into halves
  • kokum / Gracinia indica- 4-5
  • red chilli powder- 1 tps
  • turmeric powder- 1 tsp
  • Some water
  • salt to taste

How to make Tisrayanche Suke / Goan Clams Dry

  1. For cleaning the clams: First open them into halves using a sharp knife. Then with a knife, lift all the flesh from one shell, and drop it in the other ,discard the shell with no flesh. Repeat for all the remaining clams.
  2. Apply turmeric powder and keep for 10 mins. If you feel the clams are too dry, then add 1 tbsp of water. In a heavy bottom vessel, add these clams, and cook on medium high heat, uncovered for 5 minutes, mixing in between.
  3. Now add coconut, chopped onions, slit chillies, red chilli powder. Mix well. Add water if required but this recipe needs to be very dry. Cover and cook on medium high heat for 10-15 minutes. Check in between for dryness.
  4. Mix, cook another 2 mins and switch off the stove.
  5. Enjoy your Goan Clams dry with fish curry rice.
