ABOUT Fried Sweet Wanton RECIPE

I have given the Chinese wanton a new twist with the sweetness of the toffee sauce and the crunchiness inside of the dry fruits. Kids love this dish. The toffee sauce is delicious and it also has the added health benefit from the dry fruits.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. For outer covering:
  2. Maida - 1 cup
  3. Cornflour - 1 tablespoon
  4. Oil - 1 tablespoon
  5. For stuffing:
  6. Grated chocolate - 1 tablespoon
  7. Dessicated coconut - 1/2 cup
  8. Chopped dry fruits - 1/4 cup
  9. Powdered sugar - 1 tablespoon
  10. Chocolate sauce - 1 tablespoon
  11. For toffee sauce:
  12. Sugar - 1/4 cup
  13. Butter - 1 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Mix the maida, cornflour, oil and make a tight dough with this. Cover with a wet cloth. And keep it aside for 10-15 minutes.
  2. For the stuffing, mix all the ingredients.
  3. Take the dough and roll it out into a thin sheet. Cut small circles out of this with a cookie cutter.
  4. Take the stuffing and one of the round dough and place some inside. Close the opening just like a small "potli".
  5. Warm up the oil to medium hot and then fry those. It doesn't takes much time to fry these. Just take it out once it has changed into a light golden colour. Put it out into a tissue paper.
  6. Take a pan and, put 1/4 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon water to caramelize. Once it has changed into a light golden colour add some butter. This will changed into a light amber colour.
  7. Then add vanilla essence to this. Take it off of gas.
  8. After it cools down, take the wantons and serve them dipped in the sauce.
