Ingredients to make Chole

  • Chana or chikpeas - 1cup
  • Oil - 3tablespoon
  • Cumin seeds - 1tablespoon
  • curry leaves
  • Whole garam masala - 1bay leaf, 7-8 pepper corns, cloves 2
  • Onion - 1chopped
  • Tomatoes -2
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1tablespoon
  • Green chilli - 1
  • Salt - as per taste
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2tablespoon
  • Red chilli powder - 2tablespoon
  • Garam masala powder - 1/2tablespoon
  • Amchur powder - 3/4tablespoon
  • Corrainder cumin powder - 2tablespoon
  • Cilantro - For ganishing
  • Onion rings - For garnishing
  • Water - as required

How to make Chole

  1. 1- Soak chikpeas or chana for 7-8 hours or over night.
  2. 2- Take cooker add 3tablespoon oil to it once it get hots add cumin seeds after the cumins seeds crackle add the whole garam masla to it & curry leaves &saute it for 1-2 minutes.
  3. 2- Than add chopped onion to it once the onion gets translucent add ginger garlic paste to it & green chiilies & saute it for 2-3minutes.
  4. 3- Grind the tomatoes & put the mixture to onion mix it well.
  5. 4- Add salt & all the masalas to it mix it well & cook it for good 7-8 minutes or untill the oil gets separated from the masala.
  6. 5- Than add the chikpeas or chana to it mix it well & let it cook for 5 minutes.
  7. 6- Than add water to it once the chana starts boiling put the cooker lid & cook it untill the chana is done.
  8. 7 Than remove the chana from cooker in to pot if you want little thick gravy put little water to it.
  9. 8- Take some chana from it & grind it put the mixture to the cook chole so in this way you can get a thick consistency & simmer it on low flame for 5minutes.
  10. 9- Lastly put some cilantro & garnish it with some onion rings.
My Tip: For thick consistency alwys take some cook chanas grind it & put it to the chole you will get a thick gravy.
