About Dates Pickle Recipe

This goes really well with biryanis.

Dates Pickle

Ingredients to make Dates Pickle

  • 1/2 kg dates
  • 6 big pods garlic
  • 1 tbsp chilli powder
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • sugar if needed
  • salt as per taste
  • For Tempering:
  • 1/4 cup Sesame oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Roasted fenugreek powder
  • 1/2 tsp asafoetida powder

How to make Dates Pickle

  1. Clean and remove the seeds from the dates. Slice the dates. Mix the dates, red chilly powder and salt in a big bowl and keep aside for 10 to 20 minutes. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.
  2. When it splutters add the sliced garlic and saute well. Add fenugreek powder and asafoetida powder and mix well. Add the dates to this and mix well. To add more sweetness you can add a little sugar also. Now turn off the flame.
  3. Pour the vinegar to this and mix well. When cool, store in an airtight container.
