Ingredients to make Ansache Sasav / Pineapply Coconut Gravy

  • Pineapple chopped into fine pieces 1 Cup
  • Oil 1 tsp
  • Hing/Asafetida A Pinch
  • Curry leaves 6-7
  • Salt to taste
  • Shredded coconut fresh/frozen 1 Cup
  • Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • Tamarind A Small ball
  • Red chillies 3-4
  • Jaggery as per taste
  • Mustard seeds 1 tbsp

How to make Ansache Sasav / Pineapply Coconut Gravy

  1. Grind the ingredients for the masala mentioned above by adding little water and making a paste.
  2. Remove the peel from pineapple. Dice the pineapple into fine pieces.
  3. Heat oil in a heavy bottom vessel, add mustard seeds and allow it to splutter. Add the curry leaves, then asafetida and mix well.
  4. Add pineapple pieces and stir . Cover and cook for some time until they become soft. (This does not take a long time, about 5 minutes).
  5. Add the ground masala paste, salt and cook on medium high heat until the raw smell of the coconut paste is gone, about more 5 mins.
  6. Serve your Ansache Sasam or Pineapple sweet and spicy Gravy with rice or chapati.
