Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Arahar Dal:- 1 cup
  2. for preparing dhokli
  3. Wheat flour:-1/2 cup
  4. Gram flour:- 2 tbsp
  5. Carom seeds:- 1 tbsp
  6. Salt to taaste
  7. ghee 1 tbsp
  8. Turmeric Powder 1/4 tsp
  9. Water as required
  10. For Tadka
  11. curry leaves 8-10
  12. Asafoetida:1 tsp
  13. Cummin Seeds:- 1 tsp
  14. Red chillies:- 2-3 nos
  15. Green chillies :- 2 finely chopped
  16. 1 tomato :- finely chopped
  17. Turmeric Powder:- 1 tsp
  18. coriander powder:- 1 tsp
  19. Chilly powder:- 1 tsp
  20. Coriander leaves
  21. lemon (optional)
  22. ghee
  23. Salt

Instructions

  1. Pressure cook dal until it becomes paste form.
  2. Roll dough like roti and cut in to big bite size pieces and set a side
  3. Boil water in a wide pot add dhokli pieces in to it and let it cook for 15 mins
  4. Heat another pan add ghee, cumin seeds, curry leaves, Asafoetida, turmeric, green chillies, red chilly and fry well.
  5. Add coriander powder and give a mix, add chopped tomato and cook until tomato tuns mushy
  6. Add chilly powder, salt and cook for another 2 mins
  7. Now pour dal in to dhokli pan and mix well, add tadka on top of this dal and cook for 5-8 mins until dal turns thick. Let dhokli cooks in dal for sometime, so as to absorb all masala and flavor of dal in dhokli
  8. Add lemon and coriander leaves
  9. Serve hot with steam rice and mango pickle
