Ingredients to make Hot Toddy

  • 2 tbsp Bourbon, brandy, whiskey or rum
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 65 ml or 1/4 cup of boiling water
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 slice lemon
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg
  • Choice of tea bag - 1 (Optional)

How to make Hot Toddy

  1. Firstly boil the water and add the tea bag if using. While brewing the tea prepare your mug or glass by first filling it with warm water.
  2. Once the glass is warm, dump the water and coat the bottom with honey.
  3. Pour the boiling water and whiskey into the mug.
  4. Spice it with the cloves and cinnamon and put in the slice of lemon.
  5. Let the mixture stand for 5 minutes so the flavors can mingle.
  6. Sprinkle with a pinch of nutmeg before serving.

My Tip:

Make sure the water comes to a rolling boil and then add in the cup. If you are using a tea bag, add it at the time of boiling and allow to steep for about 3-5 minutes.
