Ingredients to make Katsudon

  • 1 Tonkatsu or ready made Japanese Pork Cutlet
  • 1/4 cup Dashi
  • 1 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp Sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp Sake
  • 1/2 tbsp Mirin
  • 1-2 eggs
  • 1 bowl Steamed Rice
  • 1 tsp Roasted Seaweed sliced
  • 1 tsp Green Onions chopped

How to make Katsudon

  1. Cut Tonkatsu into strips and set aside.
  2. Add dashi, soy sauce, sugar, sake, and mirin in a frying pan. Cook at medium heat until it boils.
  3. Reduce heat to low-medium and add cut Tonkatsu to the sauce in the pan.
  4. Beat eggs in a small bowl and pour over the Tonkatsu. Cover and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Transfer Tonkatsu with sauce over rice in a bowl.
  6. Sprinkle seaweed and green onions to top.
