Red lentil and carrot soup

Ingredients to make Red lentil and carrot soup

  • Red lentil/ lal masoor ki dal soaked 1 cup
  • Carrot roughly chopped 1cup
  • Tomato roughly chopped 1/2 cup
  • Cinnamon 1/2 stick
  • Cloves 2 nos
  • Lemon juice as required or 1 tbsp
  • Butter 1 tbsp
  • Onion roughly chopped 1 medium
  • Garlic cloves crushed 1 tbsp
  • Ginger 1 inch piece
  • Fresh cream for garnishing
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing
  • Black pepper powder to taste
  • Salt to taste

How to make Red lentil and carrot soup

  1. Heat the butter in pressure cooker, add lentil, carrot, garlic, onion, ginger, black Pepper, salt, cinnamon, cloves and tomatoes.
  2. Cover and cook under pressure till 2-3 whistles are given out.
  3. Switch off the gas, cool, and put into a mixer jar and grind till smooth.(discard the cinnamon and cloves before grinding)
  4. Transfer the mixture back into the pressure cooker you can use another pan too.
  5. Bring it to a boil, add lemon juice mix well. boil for 2 -3 minutes more.
  6. Pour into serving bowl, garnish with coriander leaves and fresh cream. Serve hot
