Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. urad dal 1 cup
  2. rice 1 and 1/2 cup
  3. salt
  4. coconut 1
  5. sugar
  6. oil for greasing

Instructions

  1. the previous day soak urad dal n rice for 2 hours and make a paste...
  2. add salt and let it ferment for atleast 10 hours
  3. the next day put the idli cooker on gas with a little water in it
  4. grease the idli maker
  5. for the stuffings grate a coconut
  6. in another pan take 1 cup of sugar and grated coconut and contineously stir it till sugar gets caramelised and brown in colour
  7. now put some batter in the idli maker and put some coconut over it
  8. again spread some batter to cover the coconut stuffing
  9. steam in a preheated idli cooker for 10 mins in high flame
  10. your spongy idli is ready
  11. serve with sambar n chutney
