A very yummy dessert that you can make at home.

Moong Dal Halwa

Ingredients to make Moong Dal Halwa

  • moong dal 1 cup
  • Condensed Milk 1 tin
  • Milk 3 cup
  • Few saffron strands (soaked in milk)
  • Ghee/Unsalted butter 1 cup
  • Assorted nuts 1/4 cup
  • Green cardamom powder 1/4 tsp

How to make Moong Dal Halwa

  1. Wash and soak the moong dal then grind it coarsely. Heat a pan, add in ghee/butter, then add the moong dal paste. Cook it on a slow flame till the mixture turns golden in colour and the raw aroma disappears.
  2. Add the milk and saffron and cook till it dries. Then add the condensed milk and cook continuously till you get a desired consistency.
  3. Then add cardamom powder. Turn off the heat.
  4. Garnish with nuts and serve it hot.

My Tip:

Note that adding saffron enhances the taste.
