A simple, spicy, healthy and tasty breakfast that could be made very quickly.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Oats 2 heaped cups
  2. Onions [chopped] - 1, tomatoes [chopped] - 1
  3. Finely chopped carrot, bell pepper and cabbage 3 tb spoons each
  4. Sambar Powder 1 tea spoon
  5. Turmeric Powder a pinch
  6. Asafoetida powder 1/4 tea spoon
  7. Slitted green chillies 2
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Curry leaves and coriander leaves few
  10. OIl or ghee 3 table spoons
  11. Mustard and cumin for seasoning

Instructions

  1. In a Pan dry roast oats in medium flame till nice aroma comes and take it out.
  2. Heat a pan with oil and do the seasoning with mustard, cumin, asafoetida and curry leaves.
  3. Add onions, green chillies fry for a while, then add tomatoes and other veggies. Fry in medium flame for 3 minutes adding salt.
  4. Now add the turmeric, sambar powder and fry well for 30 seconds.
  5. Pour in 3 cups of water and wait till it starts to boil well.
  6. Drop in the roasted Oats and mix well. Keep the flame to low, close the pan with a lid and allow to get cooked for 10 minutes.
  7. After 10 minutes, switch off and allow resting time for 5 more minutes. Garnish with coriander leaves.
