  • maida- 1/4 cup.
  • green chillies- 4
  • sugar- 2 cups.
  • water- 1 cup.
  • ghee- 5 tbl
  • cashews- 10 nos.
  • cardamom- 3 nos (1/4 tsp powdered).
  • Green food colour – few drops (optional).
  • milk - 1 cup

How to make GREEN CHILLI HALWA

  1. Slit green chillies and remove seeds.
  2. In a wide pan heat 1/4 cup water with 1 tsp sugar.
  3. Add stilted chillies and boil for 5 mins.
  4. Then remove chillies and let it come down to room temperature.
  5. Again boil chillies in sugar water and milk 3 to 4 times till chillies turn to pale colour. Drain water and let the chillies come down to room temperature.
  6. Grind chillies to little coarse paste.
  7. In the mean time mix cornflour, maida to 1 cup of water without any lumps (if adding green food colour, add now).
  8. Add ground chilli paste to flour mix water.
  9. Heat ghee in a wide pan and add the flour mixture, heat in low flame till the mixture starts thickening.
  10. Add cardamom powder, cashews and mix well.
  11. Keep mixing till the halwa leaves the sides and form a soft mass.
  12. I want cake consistency, so boiled for little thick consistency. Once oil starts leaving sides, you can remove the halwa at any consistency as per your desire.
  13. When done, remove from flame and spread it in greased plate evenly or bowl
  14. When halwa cools down to room temperature, slice and enjoy.
  15. The halwa stays good even for 10 days

My Tip:

The colour of halwa depends on the colour of chillies , so add food colour if required. Adjust sugar according to chilli spiciness. Be generous in adding ghee, it gives amazing texture and flavour to halwa.
