Oats upma

Ingredients to make Oats upma

  • Oats 1 cup
  • Chopped veggies (carrots, capsicum, french beans) 1/2 cup
  • Chopped onions 1/4th cup
  • Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves 7
  • Roasted cumin powder 1 tsp
  • Water 3/4th cup
  • Chana dal 1 tsp
  • Chopped ginger 1 tsp
  • Salt as per taste
  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • Grated coconut 2 tbsp
  • Few Coriander leaves
  • Green chillies chopped 2

How to make Oats upma

  1. In a frying pan, add oil to heat, once its hot drop in the cumin and mustard seeds and chana dal.
  2. Now add the chopped chillies, onions, veggies, curry leaves and fry them. Add the roasted cumin powder, salt and ginger and add water. Cover and cook under a low flame to moisten.
  3. Then remove the lid and add the oats and stir fry for a while. Cover the lid again and wait for the upma to be done. Open the lid and mix the grated coconut and stir.
  4. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
My Tip: You can dry roast the oats and keep, this works out better.
