Kozhi Kolambu/ Chicken gravy

Ingredients to make Kozhi Kolambu/ Chicken gravy

  • To marinate:
  • chicken 1/2 kg
  • turmeric powder 2 tbsp
  • salt - 2 tbsp
  • For saute and grinding:
  • Sesame oil - 1 tbsp
  • Shallot onions - 1 cup
  • onion - 1 chopped
  • coconut pieces - 1/2 cup
  • garlic - 5 pods
  • Curty masala powder - 3 tbsp
  • FOR GRAVY:
  • Sesame oil- 2 tbsp
  • mustard seeds- 1 tsp
  • water as required
  • curry leaves a bunch
  • Ginger garlic Paste - 1 tsp
  • onion - 1 chopped
  • salt to taste
  • coriander leaves to garnish

How to make Kozhi Kolambu/ Chicken gravy

  1. ADD GOOD AMOUNT OF SALT AND TURMERIC POWDER TO CHICKEN PIECES AND MARINATE FOR 15 MINUTES
  2. THIS HELPS TO CLEAN THE CHICKEN WELL, REMOVE RAW ODOUR.
  3. ADD SESAME OIL IN A PAN, WHEN HOT ADD 1 CUP SHALLOTS,1 CHOPPED ONION , 5 GARLIC PODS AND SAUTÉ WELL
  4. ONCE SAUTED WELL, ADD 1/2 CUP COCONUT PIECES AND 3 TABLESPOONS CURRY MASALA POWDER
  5. TRANSFER THE CONTENTS TO MIXIE AND MAKE PASTE, WASH THE MARINATED CHICKEN TO REMOVE EXCESS SALT
  6. IN SAME KADAI,ADD SESAME OIL, SPLUTTER MUSTARD SEEDS,CURRY LEAVES,CHOPPED ONIONS AND SAUTE WELL
  7. ADD 1 TSP GINGER GARLIC PASTE AND SAUTE TILL RAW SMELL GOES
  8. ADD CHICKEN PIECES AND SAUTE FOR 10 MINS
  9. ADD GROUND MASALA PASTE TO IT AND COOK FOR 5 MINS
  10. ONCE MASALA WELL COATED WITH CHICKEN,ADD REQUIRED SALT AND MIXIE WASHED WATER WITH LEFTOVER MASALA
  11. COOK FOR 15 MINS WITH LID CLOSED AND GARNISH WITH CORIANDER LEAVES
