Ingredients to make Ghavan Ghatle

  • For the ghavan: 1 cup rice flour
  • 1 1/2 cups of milk
  • a pinch of salt
  • a pinch of baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp ghee
  • For the Ghatle: 2 1/2 plus 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 3 tblsp jaggery or more as per taste
  • 2 tblsp rice flour
  • a pinch pf salt
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder

How to make Ghavan Ghatle

  1. For the ghavan: In a mixing bowl add the rice flour and the salt. Slowly pour in the milk, stirring continuously, making sure there are no lumps. Keep aside for half an hour
  2. Just before you're ready to make the ghavan, add the soda to it.
  3. Grease a pan with ghee and ladle out enough batter to make a thin pancake. Flip and keep aside till all are done.
  4. For the ghatle: In a saucepan bring the water, shredded coconut, salt, cardamom and jaggery to a boil
  5. Add the rice flour stirring constantly making sure that the mixture is not lumpy.
  6. Add the coconut milk to this mixture, cook it for another two minutes and then turn off the gas.
  7. Serve with the some pistachio and the ghavan

My Tip:

Nutmeg is a great spice to add to the ghatle
