Methi Muthia

Ingredients to make Methi Muthia

  • 1 cup besan
  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • 1 tbsp curd
  • 1 cup chopped methi leaves
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp haldi powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 citric acid
  • Water
  • Oil for greasing and tempering
  • Salt as per taste
  • Ingredients for tempering:
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp white sesame seeds
  • 1/2 tsp asafoetida
  • 2 green chillies slit
  • 1 sprig of curry leaves
  • Ingredients for garnishing:
  • Chopped Coriander
  • 2 tbsp grated coconut

How to make Methi Muthia

  1. In a bowl, mix all the ingredients and make a smooth dough by adding water as required.
  2. Make a long log shape of it and steam it in a (greased plate) steamer for 15-20 minutes or till its done.
  3. Once cooled, slice it and temper with the items given above.
  4. Garnish with chopped coriander and grated coconut.

The traditional muthiya does have wheat flour to besan ratio as 3:1. Though one may increase besan by a half cup more.

I tried it but 1 cup each of wheat and besan ??? I hope wheat is little more in qty is it?? or the same
