Crab

Ingredients to make Crab

  • Crabs 4
  • coconut flakes (dessicated or fresh coconut) 6 tablespoons
  • Red chillies 8
  • peppercorns 8
  • garlic cloves 4
  • Medium piece of ginger 1
  • tamarind juice 1/2 cup
  • cloves 8
  • salt to taste
  • coriander seeds 1 Teaspoon
  • onion (Chopped) 1
  • Cooking oil 2 Tablespoons

How to make Crab

  1. In a pan roast the coconut till it turns brown in colour. Also dry roast the chillies. Then in a blender add the roasted coconut, chillies, ginger, garlic, cloves, peppercorns and coriander seeds and blend till all these ingredients form a uniform paste.
  2. Remove the shell and clean the crabs. In a pan, heat some oil and add the onion to saute, then add the ground mixture, crabs, sugar and salt to taste and bring it to boil.
  3. Then add the tamarind juice and let it cook for 5 to 10 minutes.
  4. Garnish with some coriander leaves and serve hot.

My Tip:

I add sugar to balance the tanginess of the tamarind, this really makes a big difference.
