Matar Nimona

Ingredients to make Matar Nimona

  • 2 cups of green peas
  • 2-3 cardamoms
  • 5-6 cloves of garlic
  • 2-3 green chillies
  • 1 small sized onion
  • Few sprigs of fenugreek leaves
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp hing
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • water
  • salt
  • 5-6 florets of cauliflower (optional )

How to make Matar Nimona

  1. Grind and make a smooth paste of cardamom, garlic chillies and onion.
  2. Take 1 cup of peas and make a puree of it. Take another cup of green peas and grind them coarsely.
  3. In a wok, put the butter and add hing, once it splutters add the garlic- onion paste and cook on a slow flame until the raw smell disappears.
  4. Now add the coarsely ground peas and cook for another couple of minutes. Put in the peas puree and add salt and water.
  5. Cook on a slow flame for 10 minutes until it is cooked well.
