Mix Veg Khar (Raw Papaya and Masoor Dal)

Ingredients to make Mix Veg Khar (Raw Papaya and Masoor Dal)

  • Raw papaya 1 (medium size)
  • Roughly chopped Pumpkin leaves (5-6)
  • Squash 1 (medium size)
  • Masoor dal 1/2 cup
  • Chopped Onion 1/2
  • Ginger paste 1/2 tsp
  • Garlic paste 1/2 tsp
  • Green chillies 3-4
  • Mustard oil 2 tbsp
  • Salt 1 tbsp (as per taste)
  • turmeric a pinch
  • Baking soda 1/2 tsp
  • Water 2 cups

How to make Mix Veg Khar (Raw Papaya and Masoor Dal)

  1. Cut the vegetables and pumkin leaves into big size pieces. Wash them with cold water.
  2. Wash masoor dal and let it to dry.
  3. In a pressure cooker put Mustard oil. Fry the onion till light brown then add green chillies, ginger and garlic paste.
  4. Put the masoor dal and fry for 2 minutes. Now add the chopped vegetables and pumkin leaves.
  5. Now add salt, turmeric and baking soda. And fry for a couple of minutes.
  6. Add 2 cups of water and close the pressure cooker lid and let it whistle for 6-8 times.
  7. The soothing curry is ready. Serve with plain rice.

My Tip:

You can experiment with different types of vegetables, example: green leafy vegetables, pumkin, cucumber.
