Spring onion and cheddar scones

Ingredients to make Spring onion and cheddar scones

  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 cup grated cheddar
  • 1/2 Cup Butter
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne/ English mustard
  • 2 spring onions trimmed and chopped
  • 1 small egg
  • Salt to taste
  • 2-4 tbsp milk

How to make Spring onion and cheddar scones

  1. Pre-heat oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
  2. Grease a baking dish with butter or oil.
  3. In a bowl, combine the sifted flour and baking powder, cayenne/mustard powder, salt and add the butter in the dry mix till it resembles bread crumbs.
  4. Add the chopped spring onions and grated cheese. Combine well.
  5. Add the egg and 2-4 tbsp of milk or till it becomes a soft and sticky dough.
  6. Spread the scone mix in the pre-heated baking dish
  7. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown
  8. Let them cool for a minute then cut into strips and serve warm.

My Tip:

Spread some butter and sprinkle cheese to make it decadent. Best when had warm with tea or coffee.
