Dhobli Mirchicha Zunka (Roasted Besan with Capsicum)

Ingredients to make Dhobli Mirchicha Zunka (Roasted Besan with Capsicum)

  • 2 Capsicums diced
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • Dash of hing (asafoedita)
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 Tbsp Coriander leaves
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic-green chili paste
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1 cup Besan (gram flour)
  • Water as per need
  • Salt to taste
  • 3-4 tbsp oil
  • Coriander leaves for garnish (optional)

How to make Dhobli Mirchicha Zunka (Roasted Besan with Capsicum)

  1. Dry roast besan in a pan till fragrant and aromatic stirring continuously (about3-5 minutes).
  2. Heat oil in nonstick pan. Stir fry capsicums first. Remove to a plate.
  3. Add little more oil in the same pan if necessary. Add mustard seeds, and once they splutter, add hing, turmeric powder, and coriander leaves. Stir.
  4. Add ginger-garlic-green chili paste. Stir.
  5. Add chopped onion. Sprinkle some salt over the onions. Cook till onions are softened.
  6. Add capsicums back to the pan. Add red chili powder and garam masala powder.
  7. Adjust salt. Add lightly roasted besan. Mix well. Sprinkle some water. Cover with hollowed lid.
  8. Pour water over lid and steam for about 5-10 mins on low heat till done. Garnish with coriander leaves.
